Puttu with Kadala Curry

Step 1: Prepare the Puttu
-Mix rice flour with salt. Sprinkle water and mix till moist, crumbly texture is achieved.
-Layer a puttu maker with grated coconut and rice flour alternately.
-Steam for 7–10 minutes until soft and cooked through.
Step 2: Cook the Kadala
-Pressure cook soaked chickpeas with water and salt for 4–5 whistles until soft.
Step 3: Make the Curry
-In coconut oil, splutter mustard seeds and add fennel seeds (optional).
-Add onions, curry leaves, and sauté till golden. Add ginger-garlic paste and cook well.
-Add tomatoes and cook till soft. Mix in turmeric, red chili, coriander powder, and salt.
-Add boiled chickpeas with water. Simmer for 10 minutes till flavors combine.
-Sprinkle garam masala and simmer for 2 more minutes.
Step 4: Serve Hot
-Serve steamed Puttu hot with spicy Kadala Curry. Best enjoyed with a dollop of ghee!
