Recipe

Step 1: Preheat & Prepare
- Preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease and line your cake pans with parchment paper.
Step 2: Mix Dry Ingredients
- In a bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
Step 3: Cream Butter & Sugar
- Beat together butter and sugar until the mixture becomes light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, followed by vanilla extract.
Step 4: Add Dry Ingredients & Milk
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk. Mix until smooth.
Step 5: Bake the Cakes
- Divide the batter between your prepared cake pans. Bake for 25-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool completely before frosting.
Step 6: Apply Crumb Coat
- Once the cakes are cool, apply a thin layer of buttercream to seal in any crumbs.
- Chill the cake in the fridge for about 30 minutes to set the crumb coat.
Step 7: Fondant Covering
- Roll out your fondant to a thickness of about 1/8 inch and gently drape it over each tier of the cake.
- Smooth it out, trimming any excess fondant.
Step 8: Metallic Decoration
- Using a food-safe brush, apply the edible metallic paint (gold, silver, or rose gold) to the fondant-covered cake.
- You can use different metallic colors for each tier or a uniform metallic finish.
- If desired, add edible glitter to the cake for extra shine and glam.
Step 9: Additional Decorations
- Add gold leaf for an extra luxurious metallic effect, or use metallic ribbons around the base of each tier.
- Decorate with fresh flowers or sugar flowers. Opt for neutral or complementary colors to the metallic sheen for a harmonious look.
Step 10: Assemble the Cake
- Stack the tiers on a sturdy cake stand, ensuring each layer is properly supported with dowels or cake supports.
Step 11: Serve & Enjoy
- Serve the cake at room temperature for best flavor and texture. This metallic wedding cake is sure to impress!
