📝 Ingredients
For Khara Bath:
- 2 tbsp oil + 1 tsp ghee
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 1 tsp urad dal & chana dal
- 1–2 green chilies (chopped)
- 1 onion (finely chopped)
- 1 tomato (chopped)
- 1/2 cup mixed veggies (carrot, beans, peas)
- Few curry leaves
- 1/4 tsp turmeric
- Salt to taste
- 2.5 cups water
- Fresh coriander + lemon juice
For Kesari Bath (Sweet):
- 1 cup sugar (adjust to taste)
- 2 tbsp ghee
- 1/4 tsp cardamom powder
- A pinch of saffron / food color (orange/yellow)
- 2.5 cups water
- Cashews & raisins (fried in ghee)
👩🍳Recipe
- Step 1: Roast the Rava
- -In a dry pan, roast 1 cup of rava till aromatic and lightly golden. Divide for both dishes.
- Step 2: Make Khara Bath

- In a pan, heat oil + ghee, splutter mustard, add dals, green chilies, curry leaves, and onions.
- Saute, then add tomatoes and chopped vegetables. Cook till soft.
- Add turmeric and salt. Pour 2.5 cups water. Bring to a boil.
- Slowly add ½ of the roasted rava while stirring to avoid lumps.
- Cook covered till water is absorbed. Garnish with coriander & lemon juice.
- Step 3: Make Kesari Bath

- Boil 2.5 cups water with saffron and sugar.
- Add remaining roasted rava slowly while stirring.
- Add ghee gradually, cardamom powder, and fried cashews & raisins.
- Mix and cook till smooth, ghee separates, and halwa texture forms.
- Step 4: Serve the Combo
- -On a plate, serve a scoop of Khara Bath and a scoop of Kesari Bath side-by-side.
- -hot with coconut chutney or filter coffee! ☕
