- 1 cup all-purpose flour

- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda

- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup hot water

- Step 1: Preheat the Oven
- - Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
- Step 2: Prepare the Dry Ingredients
- - In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Step 3: Add the Wet Ingredients
- - Add the buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
- Step 4: Incorporate the Hot Water
- - Gradually add the hot water to the batter, mixing until smooth. The batter will be thin, but that's normal.
- Step 5: Fill the Cupcake Liners
- - Spoon the batter evenly into the cupcake liners, filling each about 2/3 of the way full.
- Step 6: Bake the Cupcakes
- - Bake for 18-22 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a cupcake comes out clean.
- - Allow the cupcakes to cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

- - Once the cupcakes are completely cooled, frost with your favorite chocolate frosting and serve!
