Step 1: Cook the Dal & Rice
-Wash and pressure cook the toor dal with turmeric until soft.
- Separately, cook the rice and keep aside.
Step 2: Prepare the Vegetables
-In a pan, boil the chopped carrots, beans, peas, and tomato until soft.
- Add tamarind paste and let it simmer for 5 minutes.
Step 3: Mix Dal, Rice & Veggies
-Mix the cooked dal and rice with the vegetables. Add 1–2 cups of water to adjust consistency.
Step 4: Add Bisi Bele Bath Powder
-Add the Bisi Bele Bath powder and salt. Mix well and let everything simmer for 10 minutes.
- occasionally to prevent burning.
Step 5: Tempering
-In a separate tadka pan, heat ghee + oil.
- Add mustard seeds, urad dal, chana dal, dry red chilies, curry leaves, hing, and cashews.
- until golden and aromatic. Pour over the Bisi Bele Bath.
Step 6: Final Touch
-Mix well. Add a little ghee on top before serving for extra flavor.
- Optionally, top with fresh grated coconut.
